Brookvale Arts District (BAD)

Make Brookvale BAD again.

The Brookvale Arts District (BAD) is one of Sydney’s up-and-coming 24-hour districts. Meck partnered with BAD and Reactivate - a coalition representing local individuals, companies and institutions – to advocate for Brookvale’s future in the face of enormous change. Meck worked with BAD to bring their ideas to life with an urban design and place-based structure plan that celebrates the district’s globally-renowned makers, movers and shakers – with continued economic and cultural growth.

Industry with a Beach Vibe

BAD is right smack in the hub of the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, just minutes from the Pacific Ocean yet a world unto itself. The District is known for its funky integration of arts, industry and entertainment across a range of activity from design, engineering and automotive to fashion, food and education, all located amidst a bustling industrial zone of breweries, bars, studios and galleries.

A 24-Hour Future, the BAD way

BAD’s ambition is to become a world-renowned destination with a thriving arts, entertainment industry and nightlife that is an exemplar of industrial urban renewal. Meck’s structure plan aligns with Council objectives for the area and allows for BAD to be a place where innovation runs rampant, live music is a mainstay and ‘rules’ broken to allow new industries to emerge, new ideas to surface and underground art to get its start.
